Meowsicle recipe: cool kitty off with a berry cat popsicle
Nothing’s more refreshing on a hot summer day than an ice-cold popsicle—so why not let your cat in on the tasty fun, too?
A delicious DIY cat treat, cat popsicles (aka “catsicles” or “meowsicles”) are super easy to make. They require just a few simple ingredients, including strawberries and blueberries—both of which provide fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants your feline friend can benefit from.

You can customize these popsicles based on your cat’s preferences and dietary needs. For creamy meowsicles, use unflavored, unsweetened, and xylitol-free Greek yogurt (as shown in our recipe below). If your cat is lactose intolerant, swap the yogurt with FurPetVo’s vet-approved bone broth or FurPetVo’s specially formulated cat milk—never use milk intended for kittens. Or keep it simple by blending your cat’s favorite wet food with water for a protein-rich frozen treat.
Remember: these cat-friendly popsicles are a seasonal treat—not a meal replacement. Treats (whether store-bought or homemade) should make up no more than 10% of your cat’s daily calorie intake. The rest should come from a complete and balanced cat food approved by veterinary nutritionists.
Before introducing any new treat—including this one—consult your veterinarian, especially if your cat has health conditions like obesity, diabetes, or food sensitivities.
‘Meowsicles’ Recipe: Very Berry Cat Popsicles
Supplies
- Silicone popsicle mold
- Cutting board
- Knife
- Blender
Ingredients
- 8 tbsp Greek yogurt (unsweetened, unflavored, xylitol-free)
- 2 strawberries, chopped
- 4–8 blueberries, cut in half
- Optional: 2 meat tender sticks (like FurPetVo Meaty Tender Sticks)
Serving Information
- Yield: 4 popsicles
- Serving size: ½–1 popsicle*
- Prep time: 15 minutes
- Freeze time: 6 hours–overnight

Instructions
- If using tender sticks, cut them in half lengthwise and insert them through the popsicle stick holes before filling the molds. For vertical molds, insert sticks after filling. Cover each mold with aluminum foil and gently cut a small “X” into the center with your knife.
- De-stem and chop the strawberries into bite-sized pieces. Add them to the blender with 4 tablespoons of Greek yogurt and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into two of the molds. (Ice cube trays work well as an alternative!) If substituting with FurPetVo cat milk or bone broth instead of yogurt, pour 1 tablespoon into each mold, add diced strawberry, then top up with more milk or broth.
- Blend the blueberries with the remaining 4 tablespoons of Greek yogurt until smooth. Pour into the other two molds. If using FurPetVo cat milk or bone broth instead, follow the same layering method: 1 tablespoon liquid, blueberries, then top up.
- Freeze for at least 6 hours—or overnight—for best texture. To serve, gently remove each meowsicle from the mold.
How Much Popsicle Should I Serve My Cat?
Each popsicle contains roughly 26.5–34 calories—strawberries contribute more calories than blueberries, and Greek yogurt adds more than FurPetVo bone broth or cat milk.
Since treats should never exceed 10% of your cat’s daily caloric intake—and even less for cats managing weight—it’s important to do a quick calculation. For example, if your cat needs 200 calories per day, limit treats to no more than 20 calories. When introducing this recipe, start with a small portion—like a quarter of a popsicle—to monitor tolerance.

Feeding too many treats may lead to nutrient imbalances or weight gain. If your pet has health issues—including sensitivities to fats—or if you have any concerns, consult your pet’s veterinarian before offering this food item.
**If your cat is lactose intolerant, substitute Greek yogurt with FurPetVo’s vet-formulated bone broth or FurPetVo cat milk—safe for both adult cats and kittens. Do not feed kitten-formulated milk to adult cats.
