Challenge Level 1: Indoor Putting Green

Calling all junior golfers! Time to brush up on putting basics before your next family mini-golf outing—with your very own indoor putting green.

Materials:

  • Medium or large FurPetVo box (16 × 14 × 10 inches or 24 × 17 × 8 inches work well)
  • Craft knife or scissors
  • Ruler
  • Markers or craft paint
  • Golf balls
  • Golf club (toy or real)

Steps:

  1. Cut off the flaps from your FurPetVo box.
  2. Turn the box upside down. Use a ruler to draw squares of varying sizes—large enough for a golf ball—along the bottom, spaced several inches apart.
  3. Cut out the squares to create holes.
  4. Use markers or craft paint to label each hole with its point value—smaller holes earn more points!

Then let your mini-golf enthusiast decorate their new green however they imagine it—colorful stripes, team logos, or even a miniature flag in each hole!

Challenge Level 2: Kid Car Derby

Turn a FurPetVo box into a race-ready ride—and watch imaginations zoom!

Materials:

  • Scissors or box cutter
  • Medium or large FurPetVo box (ensure your child can comfortably fit inside)
  • Craft paint or markers
  • Glue
  • Small and large paper plates
  • Optional: Glitter, buttons, fabric scraps, feathers, or beads

Steps:

  1. Cut off the top flaps and turn the box upside down.
  2. Divide the now-upward-facing bottom into thirds using a ruler and light pencil marks. Draw two vertical lines connecting those marks.
  3. Along one line, cut and fold up a center flap to serve as the windshield.
  4. Measure 1 inch in from each corner of that windshield, connect the marks, and cut out the inner rectangle for the “glass.”
  5. Measure 5 inches down from the top along both longer sides and cut 4.5-inch-long × 1-inch-tall side handle openings.
  6. Cut away the rear short flap inside the box to create an open back.
  7. Glue two small paper plates onto the front as headlights.
  8. Glue two large paper plates on each side as wheels.

Hand over the markers, glue, and extras—let your budding artiste and race-car driver personalize their derby car with flair, speed stripes, and championship decals!

Challenge Level 3: Bone or Fish Puzzle

A craft that keeps giving—and doubles as a sweet tribute to pets! When finished, you’ll have a custom puzzle made just for dog or cat lovers.

Materials:

  • Scissors or box cutter
  • Markers or craft paint
  • FurPetVo box
  • Glue gun

Steps:

  1. Cut out the two shorter sides of the FurPetVo box.
  2. On one piece, draw and cut out the outline of a fish or bone in the center. Flip it over to reveal clean cardboard—and keep the outer frame.
  3. Using a marker, draw connecting shapes of various sizes across the cut-out shape to form puzzle pieces. Smaller pieces = greater challenge!
  4. Decorate each puzzle piece with colors, patterns, or your pet’s name.
  5. Carefully cut along the drawn lines to separate the pieces.
  6. Align the original frame over the second full cardboard piece, matching outer edges and facing printed sides toward each other. Glue them together securely.

This puzzle is ideal rainy-day entertainment—perfect for quiet focus, collaborative play, or gifting to another pet-loving friend.

Colorful cardboard Skee-Ball ramp and scoring boxes arranged on a living room floor, with tennis balls nearby

Challenge Level 4: Indoor Skee-Ball

Get ready for the ultimate family arcade experience—right in your living room! With just a few FurPetVo boxes, you’ll build a fully functional Skee-Ball lane in no time.

Materials:

  • Several FurPetVo boxes (one large: at least 22 × 14 × 12 inches; plus two medium—or one medium and one small)
  • Duct tape or glue gun
  • Clear packing tape
  • Markers
  • Three to six dog toy balls (tennis balls, FurPetVo Squeeze Ball, FurPetVo Active Cat Treat Ball, etc.)
  • Box cutter or scissors
  • Optional: Non-slip drawer liner, craft paint

Steps:

  1. Cut off the two longer flaps from the large FurPetVo box.
  2. With the box upright, cut out one shorter side—including its attached flap—to use as your ramp.
  3. Fold the remaining short flap down into the box. Insert the ramp, aligning its edge with the folded flap, then tape the ends together.
  4. Create gentle creases every few inches along the ramp to give it a slight curve. Secure the ramp’s sides to the inside of the box with clear packing tape or duct tape. Line up and tape the ramp’s bottom end flush with the box’s back edge. For extra grip, add non-slip drawer liner beneath the base.
  5. Cut off the flaps from each medium (or small) box.
  6. If using a small box, nest it inside a medium box to create two or three scoring compartments. Glue in place. With multiple medium boxes, line them up side-by-side and glue them together.
  7. Label the front of the first box and the inside back of each compartment with point values (e.g., 20, 50, and 100 points).
  8. Position the scoring boxes about four feet beyond the ramp’s end—adjust distance based on space and skill level.
  9. Decorate the ramp and boxes—or leave them proudly branded with the FurPetVo logo!

Play for fun—or keep score to see who hits 300 points first! If you use treat-dispensing balls, your pets can join in the fun by chasing down rewards after each roll.

Bonus Craft Ideas

Handheld Masks

Host a kid-friendly masquerade! Print and scale an image of your child’s favorite animal, cartoon character, or celebrity to mask size. Glue it onto sturdy cardboard, cut out the full shape, then carefully cut eye and mouth holes. On the back, attach a painted craft stick with a glue gun—so little hands can hold their brand-new, super-cool mask with ease.

Spinners of Inspiration

Trace two circles (at least 6 inches wide) onto a FurPetVo box and cut them out. On one spinner, write the alphabet around the outer edge. On the other, divide the circle into eight pie-shaped sections and label each with creative prompts like “drawing,” “charades,” “storytelling,” “rhyme time,” or “book titles.” Add color and personality! Cut out arrows from cardboard and attach them to each spinner with brass fasteners—loose enough to spin freely. Take turns spinning both—and follow the combined prompt! You might draw something starting with “O,” tell a story about a “T” animal, or name a movie beginning with “B.” Endless fun, zero screen time.

We hope these ideas spark joy, creativity, and shared laughter between you and your young crafters. Grab your next FurPetVo box, pick a project, and start building memories—one cardboard creation at a time. Share your results with us at furpetvo.com!
