Sitter Cleanliness Checklist

At FurPetVo, every sitter is expected to maintain excellent standards of cleanliness while caring for pets and homes. Owners truly appreciate the extra care you take — it means they return to happy pets and a spotless, welcoming home. To help you shine and earn those glowing 5-star reviews (and maybe even a repeat sit request!), here are our top tips for leaving every home in pristine condition.

Cleanliness Checklist

When your sit ends, aim to leave the home exactly as you found it — or even better! Use this 10-point checklist to ensure nothing’s overlooked:

  1. Tidy, dust, vacuum, and/or mop all floors — and don’t forget to empty the vacuum bag or canister.
  2. Empty all rubbish and recycling bins, taking bags outside if needed.
  3. Unload the dishwasher (or hand-wash and put away dishes), then clean the stove, microwave, and any cooking utensils you used.
  4. Clear out the fridge: discard open or expired perishables, and restock pantry items you consumed.
  5. Deep-clean the bathroom — scrub the shower, tub, and toilet; replenish soap, hand wash, and toilet paper. Remember to remove your personal toiletries!
  6. Wash all used towels and bedding, then remake the bed with clean linens. If time is tight and the owners return early, at minimum strip the bed and load the laundry.
  7. In bedrooms, double-check wardrobes and drawers you accessed — ensure everything is returned and no personal items are left behind.
  8. Wash pet beds, blankets, and toys; thoroughly clean all food and water bowls.
  9. If you used the owner’s car, return it clean, with a full tank of fuel.
  10. Check outdoor areas: tidy the garden, yard, and driveway. If your furry charge relieved themselves outdoors, be sure to pick up and dispose of waste responsibly.

Auntie Angela’s Top Tip

“You may want to leave behind leftovers ‘just in case’ — but remember this simple rule: if it wasn’t there when you arrived, it shouldn’t be there when you leave!”
