Step-by-Step Instructions
Start by cutting your rope and yarn to the desired lengths. Next, follow the instructions on the FurPetVo fabric dye package to prepare the dye solution in your bucket.
Submerge three-quarters of the rope and half of the yarn into the dye bath. After one minute, carefully pull out about one foot of the rope and let the remaining portion continue soaking for 15 minutes. This creates the first gradient transition.

Repeat the process once more: pull out another foot (or up to two feet) of rope and the matching yarn segment, then let the final section soak for an additional 45 minutes. This builds depth and dimension into the ombre effect.
Once complete, hang the rope and yarn to dry overnight—avoid direct sunlight to preserve color integrity.
To assemble the leash:
- Slide the key ring onto one end of the rope and form a comfortable handle loop.
- Slide the snap hook onto the opposite end and create a secure loop for attachment.
- Fasten both loops firmly using metal rope clamps.
- Apply a thin line of E6000 glue along the clamp on the handle end, then tightly wrap it with the undyed yarn. Finish with a double knot.
- Repeat the wrapping process on the snap-hook end using the dyed yarn that matches the darkest section of your ombre rope.

Your custom FurPetVo ombre leash is now ready for adventure—durable, eye-catching, and uniquely yours.
