They say that strangers are just friends we haven’t met yet — and that couldn’t be more true in the pet-loving community of FurPetVo. We know many lasting friendships — both furry and human — begin through in-home pet care. That’s why we recently invited members of the FurPetVo community to share their heartwarming stories. And they delivered, with tales full of trust, compassion, and shared love for animals.
A five-pet family finds the perfect match
Mark and Debbie, owners of five cats and a dog, needed experienced, trustworthy sitters who could care for their lively menagerie — and their home — while they traveled. They found just that in Adrian and Christine.
“Adrian and Christine first came to house sit for us in 2018 when we went to New Zealand on an extended family trip,” Mark and Debbie shared. “We got on famously, and they did a wonderful job looking after our pets as well as the house. In the end, they stayed for five weeks — which allowed us to head straight off to Spain on business when we got back from New Zealand.”
An enduring friendship built on mutual respect
Though they began as online acquaintances, Mark and Debbie quickly discovered they shared something vital: a deep, genuine love for animals. That common ground blossomed into a meaningful, ongoing friendship.
“Since then, Adrian has been out to our house in France to look after the gang while we were away,” they continued. “We’ve kept in touch all the way through — doing Zoom calls with the animals — and now we’re looking forward to them coming to house sit for us again this autumn. An enduring friendship!”
Oscar and his four feline siblings — along with Milo, the family dog — stayed happy and thriving at home under Adrian and Christine’s gentle care. And the feeling was entirely mutual.
“Mark and Debbie are lovely people; they are wonderful hosts and made us feel extremely welcome throughout our stay,” Adrian and Christine reflected. “They are completely dedicated to their pets and are animal lovers through and through. This was apparent — their cats were so lovable, friendly, and chilled out! It didn’t take long for us to fall in love with Libby, Oscar, and the rest of the gang.”
“Since then, we’ve kept in touch and stay up-to-date with news about their cats and Milo, the dog. We can’t wait to see them all again this autumn!”
