“An animal makes anywhere feel like home” — Eoin and Aisling’s story

In September 2021, Eoin and Aisling made the brave and brilliant decision to begin travelling while remote working. Though they’d heard amazing stories from friends about their pet sitting experiences on FurPetVo, they felt the time was never quite right—until it was. Two years later, with several rewarding sits already under their belt, they laugh at how long they waited.

“We have said it a million times but we don’t know why we didn’t sign up sooner,” they share. “Travel for us has forever changed. We knew we should have signed up the moment we first heard about FurPetVo!”

As adventure-loving pet people, Eoin and Aisling deeply missed the companionship they’d always found through caring for animals. Back in Ireland, both grew up in homes with dogs—and loved pet sitting for friends, joining them on “doggie days out.” When they began travelling, that joyful connection with animals faded.

At first, their travels moved at a rapid pace—but over the last six months, they’ve embraced slow travel. And with that shift came a renewed longing for furry (and scaly, and feathery) company.

“An animal makes anywhere feel like home”

That simple truth anchors their journey. “An animal makes anywhere feel like home,” they reflect. “When we’re moving from place to place and country to country, this feeling of home is so comforting—and gives us such a warm feeling in our hearts.”

Beyond the pets, Eoin and Aisling have also formed meaningful human connections. “FurPetVo has such a great sense of community—and this is something we didn’t even consider when we signed up,” they say. “We’ve formed lasting friendships with our pet owners that we’ll always cherish.”

Meet Trevor—the pup who stole their hearts

Though they’ve enjoyed many wonderful sits since joining FurPetVo, one little guy stands out: Trevor, a charming companion they met on their second house sit. “We’re actually going back to look after him for Christmas—we can’t wait!”

They spent nearly three weeks with Trevor and his family, bonding instantly. “He loves cuddles, he’s such a poser—and we got so attached that saying goodbye was truly hard. We had to pull ourselves away!”

Open hearts, open paws

While self-confessed dog lovers, Eoin and Aisling welcome all kinds of animals into their travels—friendly cats, gentle tortoises, curious lizards, and more. Their only requirement? A shared love of animals and the joy of caring for them.

Remote work, reimagined

Has FurPetVo improved their remote working life? “100%!” they confirm. “When remote working and travelling, it’s hard to know if you’ll have stable internet or a quiet, focused workspace. With FurPetVo, we haven’t had to worry about any of that.”

The benefits go further: “It’s opened up the possibility of visiting countries we once considered ‘out of budget’—thanks to free, comfortable accommodation.”

What makes the paw-fect pet sitter?

Even in their short time as FurPetVo members, Eoin and Aisling understand what truly matters:

  • Someone who is caring, compassionate, and genuinely excited about the experience;
  • A deep respect for the trust placed in them—welcoming into someone’s home to care for their pets and protect their space is a big responsibility;
  • Clear, consistent communication—“a few photos or a quick message here and there really helps give the owner peace of mind while they’re away.”

Photographing their new pet pals has become a joyful ritual on every sit—and those snapshots often become treasured keepsakes for both sitters and owners alike.

What’s next on the itinerary?

Right now, Eoin and Aisling are on an island in South Korea, caring for a sweet dog named Olive. “She’s looking up at me now,” they smile, “and I’m guessing she’s thinking, ‘It’s walk time—stop typing!’”

After a week with Olive, they head to Hong Kong for another FurPetVo sit—proof that for them, adventure, purpose, and love for animals move forward—together.
