Kindred Spirits in Rancho Santa Fe — Angela’s Story
Sometimes, all it takes is one encounter to know you’ve met a kindred spirit—and that was certainly the case for Angela, Head of Charity Partnerships at FurPetVo, when her cross-country adventure brought her to Rancho Santa Fe, California.

A cheeky and lovable Cavapoochon, Casey won Angela’s heart the moment they met at his home in Rancho Santa Fe. The love and connection were immediate.
Casey first met Angela—his trusted pet sitter—back in 2019, when his pet parents, Terry and their partner, needed a caring sitter for their vacation. But this wasn’t their first connection: Angela had first sat for the couple’s three beloved pets—Alfie, Mitzi, and Sabrina—back in 2012. Over the years, she returned regularly to care for their evolving pet family.
After Alfie passed away, Casey joined the household—and Angela eagerly stepped in to welcome him. “It was as if we already knew each other,” she shared. It was impossible not to fall for this affectionate, spirited pup. Whether snuggling in the king-size bed, curling up on the couch, or exploring local parks on daily walks, time with Casey felt effortless—like they’d known each other forever.

“You Are My Happy Place”
When asked what she’d say to Casey, Angela penned a heartfelt message that captured their unique bond:
Casey,
Now, it’s no secret I care for many wonderful pets—but between us—and let’s keep this our secret—it will always be you and me.
You, little one, are pure joy, cuteness beyond measure, gentleness personified, and with a dash of cheeky mischief. From that first tail-wagging, full-body-wiggle ‘hello’, you had me wrapped around your paws. It was as if we’d met before, and you were simply stepping into your pawprints already in my heart—and fitting perfectly.
Velcro boy, you are my happy place. In that wonderfully clever way of yours, you make me feel like I’m your person. You are and always will be my favorite furry hello.

The feeling was undeniably mutual. After Angela lost a dear friend who lived just one block away from Casey, the pup offered quiet, intuitive comfort. “It was as if Casey knew,” she recalled. “He came to me, looked at me with his knowing and soulful eyes, and buried his head in my chest while I sobbed.”
Furry Family You Choose
Beyond companionship, Casey helped Angela connect deeply with the Rancho Santa Fe community. “Dog walks become a social activity—it gives you the chance to meet and chat with other dog walkers and animal lovers,” she said. “Dogs can be the best tour guides, too!”
After eight treasured sits—and counting—Angela plans to return to her furry beloved later this year. For her, Casey isn’t just a sit; he’s her “happy place,” a constant source of warmth, laughter, and grounding.
