Homemade Breakfast Bones for Dogs
Dogs need sustained energy to start their day—and what better way to fuel your pup’s morning than with crunchy, nutrient-rich homemade breakfast bones? These tasty treats are crafted with wholesome, dog-friendly ingredients that support digestion, provide lasting fullness, and make mornings more joyful.

Loaded with fiber-rich jumbo oats, antioxidant-packed blueberries, creamy goat or sheep yogurt, and naturally sweet banana, these treats digest slowly—helping your dog stay satisfied through walks, playtime, or training sessions. The recipe yields 42 medium-sized bones, perfect for daily use or portioned storage.
Ingredients
- 250 g (9 oz) jumbo oats
- 350 g (12 oz) whole-wheat flour
- 125 g (1½ oz) fresh blueberries
- ½ cup goat or sheep yogurt
- 1 small ripe banana
- Cookie cutter of your choice (bone-shaped recommended)
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking rack with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the blueberries and banana together until smooth. Stir in the yogurt until fully combined.
- Add the jumbo oats and whole-wheat flour. Mix thoroughly until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Roll it out to approximately 5 mm (¼ inch) thickness. If sticky, add a small amount of extra whole-wheat flour as needed.
- Use your cookie cutter to cut out bone-shaped treats. Re-roll scraps as needed.
- Arrange the bones on the prepared baking rack. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp at the edges.
- Turn off the oven, leave the door slightly ajar, and let the treats cool completely inside—this step ensures maximum crunch and shelf stability.
