Banana, Peanut Butter, and Yogurt Raw Smoothie for Dogs

Smoothies make a delicious and nutritious summer treat for humans—and now your dog can enjoy a refreshing, frozen snack too. This healthy, dog-friendly recipe is perfect for hot days and doubles as a fun, lickable dessert.

A creamy, pale-yellow smoothie in a blender jar, with banana slices and a spoonful of peanut butter visible on the rim

I prepare this smoothie in a blender, then pour it into a plastic container and freeze it until firm—transforming it into a scoopable, ice cream–like loaf. On the day I made it, my dogs had already eaten breakfast, so I cut one slice and served it in a bowl for them to share.

They loved it! Every now and then, their tongues would get too cold, prompting a quick break to sip water—but within seconds, they were right back at it. Few dogs can resist the irresistible appeal of peanut butter!

Ingredients

  • 103 grams (about ¾ cup) sliced, frozen banana
  • ⅛ cup smooth peanut butter (ensure it contains no added salt and absolutely no xylitol)
  • 3 cups plain, low-fat yogurt (unsweetened and free of artificial sweeteners)

Directions

  1. Freeze the banana slices for a few hours—or ideally overnight—for best texture.
  2. In a blender, combine the frozen banana, peanut butter, and yogurt.
  3. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Serve immediately as a chilled smoothie—or pour into a freezer-safe container and freeze for 4–6 hours (or overnight) to create a rich, frozen treat.
