Coat Type Determines Frequency
There is no universal grooming schedule. Your dogs coat type, activity level, and health determine the schedule.
Short Coats (Boxers, Beagles)
Brush once weekly with a rubber curry brush. Moderate year-round shedding.
Double Coats (Huskies, Corgis)
Brush 2-3 times weekly with an undercoat rake. Daily during seasonal shedding.
Long Coats (Shih Tzus, Maltese)
Brush daily with a pin brush and metal comb from skin to tip.
Curly Coats (Poodles, Schnauzers)
Brush 2-3 times weekly. Professional clipping every 6-8 weeks.
Bathing: Every 4-8 Weeks
More frequent if active outdoors or with skin conditions. Over-bathing causes dry skin.
Nails: Every 2-4 Weeks
Clicking on floors means nails are too long.
Ears: Check Weekly
Clean as needed. Floppy-eared breeds every 1-2 weeks.
Teeth: 2-3 Times Weekly
Daily is ideal. Pair with dental chews and annual vet cleanings.
Sample Calendar
