Surprise Baby Cow Born During Hurricane in NC Is a True Miracle
Amid the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, a tiny Highland calf arrived at Happy Hens and Highlands in Burnsville, North Carolina — a joyful, unexpected miracle. His owner had no idea he’d been born until after the storm passed. What a heartwarming surprise!

The birth was especially meaningful given the intensity of the storm, which battered western North Carolina for days. As one video caption shared by the farm reads: “A little beauty in the midst of all this loss. This little guy was born during the hurricane. I found him after the storm passed.”
Online viewers were instantly charmed. Comments poured in with love and support: “Baby Stormy! He’s beautiful. Praying for all of you in Western NC!”; “What a sweet little fluffy miracle”; “Mom looks pretty pleased with the little one. Soooo cute”; and “We needed some good news, thank you!”
Hurricane Helene Hit the Area Hard
Burnsville — and neighboring Yancey County — suffered severe damage from Hurricane Helene. Emily, owner of Happy Hens and Highlands, explained in a recent update that the region remains isolated due to its remote location and extensive infrastructure damage.
“All the resources are going to big cities right now,” she said. “Which I understand — there’s more people there. But this community is totally cut off from the outside world. Bridges are gone, mudslides blocked roads, trees are down everywhere — and we need help. We need donations.”
On a GoFundMe campaign launched through furpetvo.com, Emily shared sobering details: “We have no clue how many lives have been lost, or how many are homeless, but entire towns have been destroyed! We have no phone service (cell towers were destroyed), no internet, or power. Some areas it could be more than a month before power is restored.”
Thanks to generous support, the campaign has raised over $39,000 — funds that will go directly to families and farms in Yancey and Mitchell counties, including Happy Hens and Highlands.
“Money, supplies, and prayer are what is needed at this time,” Emily added. “Please spread the word!”
