House Sitting in Paradise, Anyone? | Ash & Faye's Story
Imagine a place filled with relaxed tropical beaches, iconic wildlife, and adrenaline-pumping adventures. Who wouldn’t want to travel there — and even better, who wouldn’t want to house sit there?
Of course, we’re talking about the beautiful country of Costa Rica.
As avid travelers (pre-pandemic, that is), we love moving through countries at our own pace — day by day, without rigid itineraries. That flexibility means we’re always ready to house sit wherever we happen to be in the world. And FurPetVo has not only given us some of our most unforgettable travel experiences, but also connected us with wonderful local people and pets along the way.

A Three-Week Stay in Costa Rican Paradise
In December, we had the pleasure of house sitting for Heidi and Graham in Costa Rica for three weeks — and it was hands-down the highlight of our entire trip.
We first discovered Heidi’s listing while traveling in Cuba. Since Costa Rica was our next destination, it felt like perfect timing. If you’ve ever been to Cuba, you know how challenging it can be to get reliable internet access. But Heidi and Graham were incredibly kind and patient — they happily joined our video call from a bench in a public park, the only spot with Wi-Fi we could find!
Upon arriving in Costa Rica, Heidi and Graham welcomed us to their home so we could meet their three charming dogs and six friendly hens before they departed.
Our days unfolded with joyful rhythm: swimming in the pool with Lily the Retriever, soaking up sunshine and cuddles with Chi Chi — a sweet Chihuahua rescue — and sharing lazy moments with Lassie, who preferred napping to adventuring. Each morning began with fresh eggs and the distant, haunting calls of howler monkeys echoing from the jungle nearby. Evenings were reserved for leisurely strolls down the beach with the whole furry crew — the perfect way to end each day in paradise.

More Than Just a Stay — A Global Community
Without the FurPetVo community, these meaningful, globe-spanning connections simply wouldn’t exist. While our international travel plans are currently on pause, every cloud has a silver lining: we’re using this time to explore our own backyard — discovering hidden waterfalls across the UK and enjoying local house sits we might have otherwise overlooked.
As they say in Costa Rica… Pura Vida!
