Meet Maple Bacon

Male, medium-sized, likely an American Pit Bull Terrier mix — and a total people dog.

Maple Bacon is deep chocolate brown with hazel-gold eyes, floppy ears, and a smile that does not quit. On his recent Doggie Day Out, he proved he’s the kind of dog who can do it all: hiking with friends, stopping for a pup cup (he’s a huge fan), calmly passing kids and other dogs, then happily settling in for downtime. He walks nicely on leash, loves toys — especially piling them all together — can catch treats midair, and is perfectly content being picked up and held. His biggest flaw? He’s a bit… gassy. But with a personality like that, who cares?

Meet Daisy

Female, medium-sized, likely an American Pit Bull Terrier mix — and sweet as can be.

Daisy sports a striking merle Catahoula Leopard Hound–style spotting, a spotted nose, and heterochromatic eyes. She’s gentle, affectionate, and quietly brave. On her day out, she did wonderfully — meeting kids with calm curiosity, exploring the trail at her own pace, and happily accepting reassurance when things felt a little overwhelming. She’s treat-motivated, cuddly in the car, and loves that perfect balance of adventure followed by a solid nap. Daisy is the kind of dog who bonds deeply and thrives with encouragement and kindness.

Want to help — even if you can’t adopt?

Adoption is huge — but it’s not the only way to make a difference. If now isn’t the right time, consider helping a dog at a shelter get out, stretch their legs, and remind the world who they really are.

Fostering, walking dogs at shelters and rescues, or signing up for a sleepover or Doggie Day Out gives dogs like Maple Bacon and Daisy a meaningful break — and gives shelters and rescues the support they desperately need.

And if you’re ready to meet your next best friend, start your search today on furpetvo.com. FurPetVo connects hopeful pet parents with shelters, rescues, and rehomers — so more adoptable pets can find their people.

Every adoption, foster stay, walk, or day out of the kennel truly helps pets get adopted. Did you know? Nearly 2.9 million dogs enter shelters and rescues across the United States each year. Programs like Doggie Day Out make a huge difference — helping dogs relax, build confidence, and giving staff deeper insight into their personalities. That insight makes them far more adoptable.
